Channel Characteristics Analysis for Earth-Moon Deep Space Communication Link
As the only natural satellite of Earth, the Moon is one of the most significant destinations for deep space exploration. In this paper, the deep space communication link is divided into the near-Earth space segment and the extraterrestrial space segment. Attenuation sources that may cause energy attenuation to X-band electromagnetic wave signals are analyzed and the link attenuation is also calculated. In addition, taking the Chinese Lunar Exploration Program (CLEP) as an example, the communication link between Earth and Chang'e-3/Chang'e-4/Queqiao is analyzed. Finally, the partial channel characteristics of the Earth-Moon deep space communication link are obtained.
