Simplified Fast Image Inpainting Method

Addressing the challenge of slow repair speed in inpainting small-scale damaged images, we proposed a streamlined, swift digital inpainting method, tailored specifically for images where damaged regions exhibit notable gray-level disparities from the original content. This method leverages the correlation between missing pixels and their neighboring, known image information. Specifically, it employs the values of four adjacent pixels to interpolate and fill in each missing pixel, iteratively traversing the damaged area until complete restoration is achieved. Both theoretical analysis and simulation outcomes underscore the efficiency gains of this simplified algorithm, which achieves time savings without compromising visual quality. Comparative experiments against FMM further validate its practical advantages and wide-ranging applicability.
