Terahertz Metasurfaces Based on Different Coupling Regimes for Sensing
This study presents a comparative analysis of terahertz metasurfaces based on weak and strong coupling regimes, using electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and parity-time (PT) symmetry. We explore their theoretical behaviors and practical implementations for sensing applications, highlighting the nuanced interactions between terahertz waves and resonant structures. The simulations reveal that PT symmetry, exemplifying strong coupling, offers higher sensitivity but at the cost of reduced quality factor compared to EIT, which represents weak coupling. This trade-off underscores the complexities and necessity of optimizing terahertz metasurfaces for high-precision sensing, balancing sensitivity and quality factor. The insights gained advance understanding of coupling effects in terahertz metasurfaces, guiding future developments in terahertz sensing technology.
