Distributed Fixed-Time Coordinated Control for Multiple Electric Units in High-Speed Trains

This paper investigates a distributed fixed-time controller for electric multi units (EMU) of high-speed train (HST), which aims to ensure that each electric unit of the HST reaches a balanced state with consistent speed and the coupler force tending to be zero within a fixed time. To begin with, a multi-particle model of the HST is developed, incorporating nonlinear internal forces, uncertain resistances, and input saturation, based on the assumption that the HST is composed of EMU connected by elastic couplers. Then, after linearizing the train saturation function, a distributed coordinated controller is designed according to the fixed time control theory. Finally, the effectiveness of the controller is proved by simulation experiments. The research results provide an effective solution for the control of EMU in HSTs, which has important practical significance for improving the operational performance of HSTs.
