Exploiting the Digital Twin Technology Advantages Over Telemetry Data in GNSS

Telemetry is vital for satellite networks, offering real-time data on health status and operational performance for effective mission management. However, the delay in responding to telemetry processing may result in the loss of information for certain satellite failures. This paper presents a pioneering approach to creating a digital twin of Galileo satellite telemetry using Microsoft Azure. Our proposal leverages Azure’s capabilities to replicate satellite telemetry, enabling predictive maintenance to anticipate and mitigate potential satellite failures by employing a digital twin without waiting for actual telemetry data. This innovative method aims to enhance satellite operational efficiency and reliability. The use of Microsoft Azure for telemetry replication is novel, offering a groundbreaking solution in satellite management and digital twin technology and a framework for future research in the New Space Era.
