A child's home room as a developmental environment for preschoolers

The purpose of the study is to elaborate a psychological and pedagogical approach to designing children's rooms as a developing environment for younger preschoolers. The article describes the psychological characteristics of younger preschoolers: the child's need for autonomy and independence; emphasis on psychomotor and psychosensory development; play as a leading type of activity; the formation of a child's self-esteem. It is shown how these psychological features must be taken into account when designing children's rooms. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the working out of an approach to the design of home children's rooms for younger preschoolers as a developing environment based on the consideration of the psychological characteristics of children of this age. As a result of the study, four groups of recommendations were formulated for the creation of home children's rooms: safety, physical accessibility, zoning of the premises, and individualization. An algorithm for the development of functional zoning and subject-spatial content of children's rooms as a developing educational environment for younger preschoolers was presented. Examples of home nursery plans are given, taking into account the suggested recommendations. The psychological and pedagogical approach to designing home children's rooms contributes to the development and education of younger preschoolers.
