Maintaining water service quality in the face of climate change: Can stated-preference analysis support priority setting?
• Stated-preference methods offer an implementable way of involving stakeholders in water management decisions. • We estimate a latent class model, enabling us to profile different types of respondents. • WTP is higher for environmental improvements, and lower or negative for improved resilience. • Respondents are polarised between those willing to pay for improvements and those who prefer to stay as they are. • Responses contradict regulatory priorities and reveal an unexpected tolerance towards supply restrictions.
