THE EFFECT OF NUMERACY LITERACY SKILLS ON VERBAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN VIEWING BY LEARNING OUTCOMES

This research aims to determine the correlation and effect of numeracy literacy skills on verbal and written communication skills which are reviewed based on learning outcomes. The sample used was 35 students of the mathematics education study program at Jember Islamic University. The data collection method is a test, the instrument of the test is in the form of questions and documentation, and instrument documentation is in the form of learning outcome scores. The data analysis method is SEM PLS. The first analysis results that can be conveyed are related to the validity of the indicators for each variable, namely that they show that all valid indicators represent variables with values greater than 0.500, the model used is good with results above 0.200. Furthermore, it can be said that there is a positive correlation between numeracy literacy skills and oral and written communication skills as well as direct learning outcomes. Apart from that, there is also an indirect positive correlation between numeracy literacy skills and verbal and written communication skills through reviewing learning outcomes where the results show positive values. Apart from showing a correlation, this research also shows an effect, where it is known that there is an effect between numeracy literacy skills and verbal and written communication skills as well as direct learning outcomes. Then there is also an effect between numeracy literacy skills and verbal and written communication skills through reviewing learning outcomes where the value is greater than 1,960. Based on the results of the research, recommendations that can be made are that teachers are expected to familiarize students with meaningful learning by providing practice questions that can train their numeracy literacy skills so that learning outcomes can be maximized. Other mathematical abilities can be taught, especially communication skills, both verbal and written.
