Optical scintillation of short-exposure laser propagated in turbulent atmosphere
Turbulence effects include beam wander and broadening, and optical scintillation. Scintillation, which causes millisecond-long surges and fades in the received optical power. In this work, in order to explore the characteristics of short-exposure spot transmitted by laser in turbulent atmosphere, the detection experiment of 3 km atmospheric spot transmitted by 1080 nm fiber laser was carried out. Based on the short-exposure spot data at a sampling rate of about 5000 frame/s, the scintillation characteristics of far-field laser are described qualitatively. The relevant results are helpful to further study the spatial distribution and time variation of laser energy on the target surface under the condition of high-altitude oblique transmission.
