20 meter long permanent air waveguide produced by filamentation of a kHz collimated Laguerre-Gauss beam

Laser filamentation is a spectacular phenomenon produced by an intense femtosecond laser beam propagating in air, where self-focusing of the laser pulse generates ionizing light channels. In this paper, we report the generation of a permanent air waveguide over 20 meters using a kHz laser at 1030 nm with a TW peak power and Laguerre Gaussian beam.

Abstract

Laser filamentation is a spectacular phenomenon produced by an intense femtosecond laser beam propagating in air, where self-focusing of the laser pulse generates ionizing light channels. In this paper, we report the generation of a permanent air waveguide over 20 meters using a kHz laser at 1030 nm with a TW peak power and Laguerre Gaussian beam.
