Model Architecture and Simulation Analysis of Direct-Drive Wind Turbines Connected to Weak Power Grids
As a form of renewable energy technology, direct-drive wind turbines are noted for their streamlined and efficient design. Nevertheless, their integration into the power grid can have a considerable effect on grid stability. Considering the actual state of the existing power infrastructure, reliance solely on an idealized grid model for simulation and theoretical studies is no longer adequate. The challenges posed by weak grids necessitate more stringent demands on the operation and stability of direct-drive wind turbines. This study delves into the detailed model of direct-drive wind turbines connected to weak grids, along with the structural layout of each distinct submodule. The research scrutinizes the functional behavior of these turbines under weak grid scenarios, offering an intricate analysis of the mutual impacts between direct-drive wind turbines and weak electrical grids. The study’s outcomes provide foundational theory and actionable knowledge for the integration of directdrive wind turbines in settings with suboptimal grid infrastructure.
