Fisioterapia Domiciliar Para Idosos: Impacto Na Funcionalidade, Prevenção De Complicações E Promoção Da Autonomia
Population aging demands strategies that promote functionality and quality of life for the elderly. Home physiotherapy has been shown to be an effective approach for preventing complications associated with ageing, improving mobility and encouraging autonomy. This study, based on a narrative review of the literature, analyzed the impact of this model of care on the functionality and well-being of the elderly. The results indicate that home physiotherapy reduces the risk of falls, improves muscle strength and motor coordination, and contributes to maintaining independence. In addition, adherence to treatment tends to be higher when compared to traditional rehabilitation models. However, challenges such as the need for greater government support and the inclusion of new technologies in physiotherapy practice still need to be overcome. It can be concluded that home physiotherapy is a valuable alternative for healthy ageing, and that it needs to be improved and more widely disseminated in the context of geriatric care.
