Hansen’s disease mimicking orbital cellulitis
Hansen’s disease can present with acute symptoms, hiding more subtle signs, which may be missed. A 33-year-old male presented with swelling and redness of the right side of the face. Detailed examination and investigations confirmed borderline tuberculoid leprosy with Type 1 reaction. A high index of suspicion with vigilance can help to make an early diagnosis in this potentially disabling but eminently treatable condition.
