Mohamed Iffat's Arabic translation of Macbeth (1911)

This article offers an overview of Mohamed Iffat's Arabic translation of Macbeth , which was done in literary Arabic in verse and was published in Egypt in 1912. It seems that this is one of the very first Arabic translations of Macbeth , as it appeared during the years in which the translation movement was still in its early days in the Arab world. In this article, the analysis will focus on two aspects: the main translations of Macbeth in the early twentieth century in Egypt; and the main characteristics of Iffat's translation, and how it was received.
