CATALYTIC PROCESSING OF LIGHT PYROLYSIS RESIN, A BY-PRODUCT OF ETHYLENE PRODUCTION, AND SEPARATION TECHNOLOGY OF HIGH-PURITY BENZENE

The composition of light pyrolysis resin was studied in detail and it was determined that mass fraction of aromatic hydrocarbons, especially benzene and toluene, is high compared to other hydrocarbons. The catalytic treatment was carried out with an aluminum complex catalyst based on toluene, synthesized in the laboratory, and the mass fraction of benzene in the light resin was increased. The optimal mode of the process corresponding to the maximum increase of benzene has been determined. At the next stage of the research, the benzene fraction was separated by rectification, and high purity benzene was obtained by azeotropic rectification. The mass share of benzene in light resin increased by 10.39%. Its purity has reached 99.2%. The principle technological scheme of the process is proposed. To optimize the process, a mathematical model was developed and a regression equation was compiled. Using a cheaper catalyst and milder process conditions lowers the production cost of benzene and makes the process more efficient. The presence of petroleum polymer resin, which is the basis of varnish and paint materials, was studied in the residue obtained during the rectification process
