Testicular neoplasm in a domestic canine with bilateral cryptorchid: clinical and anatomopathological aspects
The testicles are essential organs for the canine species to reproduce. Failures such as the descent of the testicles into the scrotum and changes in their temperature directly influence spermatogenesis and, consequently, the fertility of these animals. Cryptorchidism is a condition frequently found in purebred and small dogs, which can have serious consequences, making the prognosis difficult. It is known that this disease is related to a sex-linked autosomal recessive hereditary factor, which means that this abnormality greatly increases the possibility of testicular neoplasms, especially in young dogs. The diagnosis is simple and can be initiated through a thorough examination of the genitals, making a definitive conclusion possible with the help of additional tests. The treatment of choice is the removal of the testicle through orchiectomy, and in cases of neoplastic testicles, therapeutic support is provided to prevent the condition from worsening. The objective of this research was to report the case of a 13-year-old cryptorchid Maltese patient with testicular malignancy.
