Laser Fabrication of Biaxially Stretchable Graphene Supercapacitors
In recent years, the demand for stretchable devices has promoted the development of stretchable supercapacitors as important energy storage components. Current research on stretchable supercapacitors focuses on the selection of electrode materials, the design of elastic substrates, and the integration of devices. By fully considering the compatibility approach between the above factors, a universal, thin-film electrode surface laminated on an elastic substrate is proposed. Based on this model, reduced graphene oxide (RGO) circular electrodes are prepared in one step using laser direct writing technology, and the surface attachment of the electrodes to the substrate is realised through the adhesive property of the elastic substrate material itself, and designed into a matrix-like island-bridge interconnect structured stretchable supercapacitor. The device remains stable even when the biaxial stretching reaches 100%. In particular, the 2×2 RGO electrodes in parallel with the island bridge structure are designed to achieve four times the current output of the device. This provides the basis for a stretchable supercapacitor with a large capacitance storage capacity for fast charging and discharging.
