Wide-angle Scanning Irregular Phased Array With Low Sidelobe Level Synthesis Method

This paper aims to minimize the peak sidelobe level (PSLL) via an irregular phased array. An optimization problem based on the minimization of total radiation power (MTRP) problem is constructed. The originally formulated problem is non-convex due to the directivity constraint. Therefore, an alternative minimization method is proposed. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed method can achieve a lower PSLL with high directivity.

Abstract

This paper aims to minimize the peak sidelobe level (PSLL) via an irregular phased array. An optimization problem based on the minimization of total radiation power (MTRP) problem is constructed. The originally formulated problem is non-convex due to the directivity constraint. Therefore, an alternative minimization method is proposed. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed method can achieve a lower PSLL with high directivity.
