Multi-objective optimization design of passenger car driver’s seat based on multi-criteria decision making approach
Optimizing seat design is crucial for enhancing occupant safety in automotive crashes. In this study, the working conditions of automobile seats in both front and rear collisions were constructed, and their accuracy was verified through experimental tests. Building on this foundation, an innovative approach was introduced that combines optimized super-Latin experimental design with multi-criteria decision-making techniques. For the first time, a decision-making method for prioritizing the risk of failure modes in seat optimization was evaluated using regret theory and the COPRAS method. This comprehensive optimization approach led to significant improvements in seat design, including reductions in mass and cost by $\mathbf{7. 8 1 \%}$ and $\mathbf{3 3. 3 5 \%}$, respectively, an increase in the first-order modal frequency to 23.3 Hz, and a substantial enhancement in seat comfort. These findings underscore the significant and innovative contributions of this study to advancing seat safety and comfort.
