Design and Simulation Analysis of Thermal Management for Cylindrical Lithium-Ion Batteries with an Immersed Liquid-Cooled Honeycomb Structure
A cooling system featuring an immersed liquid-cooled honeycomb structure was developed for cylindrical lithium-ion power batteries. COMSOL simulation software was utilized to compute the temperature distribution within battery modules housed in this cooling configuration, under a 5C discharge rate, with both ambient and coolant temperatures maintained at $25^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$. Furthermore, the impact of varying coolant flow rates on the thermal behavior of the battery modules was analyzed. The findings reveal that, even under a high discharge rate of 5C, the liquid-cooled honeycomb structure effectively regulates the temperature of the battery pack. The peak temperature recorded was $30.7^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$, with an average of $28.5^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$, and the temperature gradient restricted to $5^{\circ} \mathrm{C}$. While enhanced coolant flow leads to improved cooling, the effect of further increasing flow rates on overall cooling performance is marginal.
