Analysis and Application of DPD Compensation Technique and Combined Linearization Approach on Dual Band PA for 5G Signals

This paper represents a comparative analysis of the application of two linearization techniques on a dual band power amplifier (DB-PA) performing at two distinct frequency bands around: 2.1 GHz and 5 GHz. The first technique is a single iteration of the DPD Compensation technique, whereas the second technique (Combined approach) combines the DPD Compensation technique and a digital second order technique that forms proper 2ndorder baseband signals to modulate the 2ndharmonic of the fundamental signal. The dual band PA linearization is independently conducted for each frequency band. The simulation results are obtained for various input power levels using 5G FBMC, UFMC, and FOFDM signals as a source. A comparison of the output spectrum obtained by both techniques under the same conditions is presented.
