SAR Deceptive Jamming Using Space-Time Coding Array

This paper aims to implement Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) deceptive jamming by utilizing a Space-time coding array (STCA) to secure the target from imminent threats, which is of significance in the modern warfare. At the modelling stage, a SAR deceptive jamming scheme is developed by introducing a time offset across array elements to shift the transmitted signal, which is termed as the STCA. In this context, the extra degrees-of-freedom (DOFs) is obtained, and multiple false targets can be generated in the range domain. Notably, the number and position of false targets can be flexibly and accurately specified through the design of array element number and time offset. Moreover, the azimuth micromotion modulation is employed by encoding the slow time pulses and transmit elements, which is capable of changing the azimuth position of each false target. Finally, the range-Doppler (RD) algorithm is applied to perform SAR high-resolution imaging. Numerical simulation results illuminate the effectiveness and feasibility of developed scheme for SAR jamming in terms of different system parameters.
