A Polymer-Based Unclad Optical Fiber Sensor for Wearable Sensing
This study utilized polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) plastic tubing to fabricate three different-diameter unclad PDMS flexible optical fiber for wearable sensing applications. This novel method for producing unclad PDMS flexible optical fibers is simple to operate and cost effective. The fabricated unclad PDMS optical fibers of three different diameters were tested for changes in transmittance, tensile force, with strain. The unclad PDMS flexible optical fiber developed in this study offer potential applications in wearable devices and provide new insights into the design of optical fiber sensors.
