Waveform Design to Mitigate Mutual Interference between Automotive MIMO Radars
Millimeter-wave radar has been extensively employed in intelligent transportation systems to enhance the traffic safety. However, mutual interference between different automotive radars can distort the reflected echoes. To mitigate this issue, a novel multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal waveform design method is introduced in this paper. Precisely, a new optimization model on the basis of the p-norm metric is first constructed, which converges to the peak sidelobe level (PSL) minimization of correlation functions as p approaches infinity. Furthermore, derivations are performed so as to leverage the fast Fourier transform (FFT) and inverse FFT (IFFT) operations during following optimization to reduce running time. Finally, the gradient descent (GD) technique is utilized to find out the optimum orthogonal waveforms promising desired correlation properties. Massive numerical experiments verify the high computational efficiency and superior correlation properties of the proposed method in comparison with the state-of-the-art ones.
