Simulation Analysis of Vehicle Stability Performance with Bionic Safety Tires
To mitigate the potential risks of tire bursts and punctures associated with pneumatic tires, a bionic sunflower-structured safety tire is proposed. Initially, a finite element model of the bionic safety tire is established to conduct a simulation study on the longitudinal slip and sideslip mechanical characteristics of the tire under various loads using ABAQUS. Subsequently, a complete vehicle model matched with the bionic safety tire is developed in Carsim to conduct simulation tests on vehicle handling and stability performance, including double lane-change maneuvers under different coefficients of friction. The simulation results of the model are comprehensively evaluated and scored, and finally, a comparative analysis is conducted with the stability of vehicles equipped with pneumatic tires. The results indicate that, compared to vehicles equipped with pneumatic tires, vehicles with the bionic safety tires exhibit lower peak values of yaw rate and centroidal side-slip angle during double lane-change maneuvers. The installation of bionic safety tires can effectively enhance the overall stability of the vehicle.
