Distributed MIMO Radar Multi-Target Detection and Localization Method with Time Synchronization Errors

Synchronization errors can seriously affect the target detection accuracy of distributed Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) radar system. In this paper, a method for detecting and localizing multiple targets for distributed MIMO radar in the presence of time synchronization errors is proposed. To address the problem of reduced target detection probability due to time synchronization error, the extended cell Generalized Likelihood Ratio Test (GLRT) detector is proposed. Specifically, this detector increases the search width of each grid cell to ensure the detection probability of the target cell. Additionally, time synchronization errors can lead to the localization of false targets, which is addressed by the proposed Extended Grid Cell Clean (EGCC) algorithm. The EGCC algorithm can adaptively match the cell where the target is located in each channel according to the localization results, thus eliminating false targets and localizing true targets. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively detects and localizes multiple targets with time synchronization errors.
