A Preliminary Measurement of Tangential Wind Field Using a Digital Array Radar Based on Interferometry
The tracer particles of wind field are distributed soft targets, unlike hard targets such as aircraft and ships, how to obtain the tangential component of the wind field through monostatic Doppler radar is a challenging problem. Doppler weather radar can only detect the radial component of the wind field and retrieve wind vectors by combining the radial velocities of multiple points in space through various scanning methods. However, this is limited by assumptions of the background wind and cannot directly measure the tangential component. To solve the difficulty, we preliminarily propose an interferometric detection method (IDM) based on digital array radar to achieve direct measurement of tangential Doppler velocities and verify the feasibility of IDM based on simulation experiments of a typical wind field.
