Capturing Hidden Faults in Relay Protection Equipment Operation Based on Multi-zone Fixed Value Calibration Technique
Conventional hidden fault capture methods are mainly based on data mining and analysis, and the hidden faults identified are relatively one-sided, affecting the operational safety of equipment. Therefore, a hidden fault capture method for relay protection equipment operation is designed based on multi-zone calibration technology. According to the topology, operation mode and protection configuration of the power system, the hidden faults of relay protection equipment are divided into zones, so as to more accurately locate the areas where hidden faults are likely to occur, and thus improve the efficiency and accuracy of fault capture. Based on the multi-zone calibration technique, the hidden fault capture matrix of relay equipment is constructed, and the fault capture mechanism is triggered immediately when the protection value of a sub-area is abnormal or does not conform to the preset standard, so as to provide conditions for the abnormal diagnosis of relay protection equipment. Comparative experiments are conducted to verify that this method is more accurate in capturing hidden faults and can be applied in real life.
