Hot Spot Simulation of 35kV Oil-Immersed Transformer Based on Ultrasonic Emission

Oil-immersed transformers are critically important devices within the power system, designed to use insulating oil to cool and insulate the internal electrical components of the transformer. These transformers are extensively used in power transmission and distribution networks, as well as various industrial and commercial facilities, primarily because of their efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Given the 35 kV voltage level as a medium voltage range, these are commonly utilized in urban electrical grids, industrial parks, and large commercial facility power systems, where they are particularly abundant. Hence, the choice to use a 35 kV oil-immersed transformer prototype for building a simulation experimental platform in multi-physical field simulation software. For power transformers, securing their safe operational status is crucial. Ultrasonics, as an excellent tool that does not couple with electromagnetic fields, is suitable for measuring transformer hotspots. Exploring the relationship between internal hotspot temperatures and ultrasonics in oil-immersed transformers is vital. For 35 kV transformers, conducting actual experiments carries numerous risk factors. Simulation experiments, which do not require direct contact with high voltage, can prevent physical damage and accidents, and provide comprehensive data on transformer temperature distribution, heat flow, and oil flow speed. Investigating the connection between ultrasonics and oil-immersed transformers is significant for non-destructive transformer testing, enabling more accurate and safer internal temperature measurements of transformers.
