The Innovative Method of Flexible Arc Extinction in Power Distribution Networks Using the Voltage of the Non-Fault Phase Feeder Line
Considering that the majority of China's power distribution networks are small current grounding systems, the existing mainstream flexible arc extinction devices need to be connected to the system's neutral point. This paper proposes a new method of flexible arc extinction based on the voltage of the non-fault phase feeder line in the power distribution network. By injecting line voltage into the busbar to eliminate the hazards brought by single-phase grounding arc light. When a single-phase grounding fault occurs in the system, based on the characteristic that one of the three-phase voltages to the ground must increase after the fault occurs, the phase with the maximum voltage to the ground is taken as the injection phase, and the selected arc extinction voltage is injected, ultimately making the fault point voltage close to zero to achieve effective arc extinction. The method and device are respectively simulated and verified in the PSCAD simulation environment and a 10kV prototype laboratory. The simulation and experimental results show that the non-fault phase feeder line voltage flexible arc extinction device can quickly and effectively eliminate arc light. In addition, the device connection method is simple, the injection process does not produce overvoltage, and there is no need for grounding transformation during the injection process. The device is cost-effective and more suitable for engineering applications.
