Research on Carbon Footprint Analysis Method of A-Class Single-Phase Cost-Controlled Intelligent Energy Meter Product

Facing with upward pressure on carbon emissions from the electric sector, China’s governments promote carbon reduction of electrical equipment manufacturing industry. This manuscript analyzed the production process of watt-hour meters. Using life cycle assessment technology, the environmental impact of Type A single-phase smart prepaid meters was quantified, covering several key stages of the product life cycle (including raw material collection, manufacturing, logistics and operation). The study found that the equivalent carbon dioxide emissions of the product in its use were $63.56 \mathrm{~kg} \mathrm{CO}_{2} \mathrm{eq}$, and CO<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>, which accounted for $99.45 \%$ of the overall emissions.

Abstract

Facing with upward pressure on carbon emissions from the electric sector, China’s governments promote carbon reduction of electrical equipment manufacturing industry. This manuscript analyzed the production process of watt-hour meters. Using life cycle assessment technology, the environmental impact of Type A single-phase smart prepaid meters was quantified, covering several key stages of the product life cycle (including raw material collection, manufacturing, logistics and operation).
