Boolean Judgment Criterion-Based Zero Sequence Current Detection Method for Ground Fault in Distribution Network

When a grounding fault occurs in the distribution network, the fault current is relatively low, and traditional protection methods may not effectively identify and remove the fault promptly. To address this issue, this study investigates a detection method for single-phase high resistance grounding faults in both low current grounding systems and low resistance grounding systems within distribution lines. A Boolean judgment criterion-based zero sequence current detection approach is proposed to achieve this goal. The least mean squares adaptive filter and the high-pass filter is utilized to filter the zero-sequence current signal, enabling rapid and reliable detection of high impedance grounding faults. This paper provides a detailed introduction to the fault characteristics associated with different grounding modes in distribution networks. Furthermore, it compares zero sequence current detection methods for distribution lines under various grounding modes, demonstrating its effectiveness. The effectiveness of this Boolean judgment criterion-based grounding fault detection is verified in the simulated distributed networks.
