FINANCIAL INCLUSION AND FINANCIAL ACCESS THROUGH FINTECH INNOVATIONS: BRIDGING THE GAP IN THE DIGITAL AGE
This paper examines financial inclusion and the role of financial technology (Fintech) in expanding access to financial services for the poor, particularly in developing countries. In a globally interconnected world, access to financial services has become an important driver of economic growth and social justice. However, despite advances in this area, a significant portion of the world’s population remains unserved by financial institutions. The paper examines how Fintech innovations such as mobile money, digital banking, and online lending can help overcome barriers to access to financial services, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals of reducing poverty and increasing economic participation. A special focus is placed on examining disparities in access to financial services across different demographic groups. It also examines the regulatory environment that can either support or constrain the spread of Fintech innovations. The paper concludes with recommendations for creating a supportive and balanced regulatory environment for the development of Fintech and improving financial inclusion.
