Investigate the effect of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) Nanoparticles on Eruca Sativa Oil for Power Transformers
The research article presents an experimental investigation towards the physical properties as well as the AC breakdown voltage of Eruca Sativa (ES) oil nanofluids prepared by nanoparticles of TiO2 to present the oil as an effective substitute for traditional mineral oil for use in power transformers. The viscosity, moisture content, specific gravity, acidity, flash/fire point, and pour point of the selected oil were among the characteristics that were assessed. The IEC/ISO standards were followed when examining these qualities. Mushroom-Mushroom electrodes with a specified spacing of 2.5 mm between them were used to test the AC breakdown voltage, also known as the breakdown voltage of ES oil and its NFs. Because of their better dielectric qualities, physical characteristics, biodegradability, and high flash point, vegetable oils have recently been proposed as a viable substitute for mineral oil. Two different proportions of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) are used to prepare NFs with samples are 0.1g/L and 0.01g/L. The outcomes reveal that the sample 0.01g/L TiO2 NF exhibits the most promising physical properties and AC breakdown voltage among the three samples, and can potentially replace the conventional mineral oil. Furthermore, a cost comparison between the tested samples, mineral oil, and other vegetable oils also revealed that 0.01g/L TiO2 NF sample is also cost effective among others.
