Impact Analysis of Simultaneous Integration of Optimal DG And D-STATCOM Allocation In Distribution System With Intermittent Nature of Load

This study focuses on optimizing the placement and sizing of Distribution Static Compensators (D-STATCOMs) and Distributed Generations (DGen) in a radial distribution network (RN) to minimize power losses and enhance voltage profiles (VP). Using the Voltage Stability Index (VSI) and Loss Sensitivity Factor (LSF), two scenarios were analyzed: (Case I) D-STATCOMs and DGen at the same site and (Case II) at separate locations, across normal, light, and peak loading conditions. Utilizing the Forward Backward Sweep (FBS) method and Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) on an IEEE 33bus system, results indicated that Case II resulted in significant reductions of real power losses: ${7 5. 5 7 \%}$, ${7 6. 3 0 \%}$, and ${7 5. 6 6 \%}$, respectively, outperforming Case I’s reductions of ${7 0. 3 5 \%}$, ${7 2. 1 8 \%}$, and 71.32%. Additionally, reactive power losses were reduced more effectively in Case II. Although the combined arrangement slightly enhanced voltage profiles more, distinct placements proved more effective overall in optimizing distribution system performance.
