Design of Precise Alignment and Orthogonal Magnetic Coupler with for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Wireless Charging
The challenge of flight duration limitation of Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) restricts their utility in long-distance power line inspections. Therefore, this paper proposes an efficient UAV charging system utilizing wireless charging technology. The relay wireless charging stations are strategically positioned along the inspection route to ensure continuous energy supply for autonomous long-range power line surveillance. Taking into account the unique structure and payload constraints of UAVs, this paper designs an orthogonal magnetic coupler which consists of Aruco markers for first step landing and limiting guide grooves for second step landing and precise Alignment. Compared to existing couplers, the proposed orthogonal magnetic coupler has a low Magnetic through UAV, high adaptability and higher degree of lateral misalignment.
