A model for Measuring the Trustworthiness of Component Software System
The purpose of this paper is to provide a new empirical evidence on software trustworthiness in the software engineering, a topic of great interest in the academic literature in recent years. This paper chooses the trustworthiness of componentized software system as the investigated subject. To this end, this paper creates a model for software system trustworthiness measurement on the footing of the attributes of components, the weights of these components, and their combination modes. This paper considers four kinds of component software subsystems, which are confirmed to satisfy five algebraic properties: monotonicity, non-negativity, cohesiveness, sensitivity, and substitutability. The empirical results show that the trustworthiness value for the whole food-ordering system including four component-based subsystems is 0.918, and, concerning its four subsystems, credibility value is at 0.846 in the case of subsystem 1, 0.942 in the case of subsystem 2 featuring branching composition, 1.0 for subsystem 3 characterized by parallel structure and 0.883 in the case of subsystem 4. The proposed model is proved to be accurate and robust in software trustworthiness measurement and can be applied into exploration of issues related to credibility in the software engineering. The paper concludes with pointing out the direction of future research.
