Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Approach for Electric/Hybrid Electric Vehicle Selection
Electric vehicle (EV) adoption is rapidly increasing around the world, driven by the need for sustainable transportation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The selection of the best EV model or technology, on the other hand, is a complex decision-making process influenced by multiple criteria and competing objectives. The paper provides an in-depth examination of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques used in the evaluation and selection of electric vehicles. The goal is to provide insights into the MCDM methods using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique in the context of EVs, as well as their strengths, weaknesses, and applications. We discuss the challenges and uncertainties associated with EV decision-making and the importance of taking into account multiple criteria such as cost, range, charging infrastructure, environmental impact, and user preferences. The comparison of these methods elucidates their suitability for various decision-making scenarios within the EV domain.
