Small Signal Modelling of Open Loop Single Mode Inverter Using Circuit Averaging Technique
Single-mode inverter (SMI) is a single-phase, single-stage inverter that produces bipolar output by utilizing its unique voltage gain characteristics by selecting proper switch pair. This paper puts forth the small-signal modelling of a recently proposed SMI using the circuit averaging technique (CAT). Initially, a methodology is presented to identify the switch pairs and then switch networks are replaced with their averaged models, resulting in the averaged model of the inverter. Later, DC and small-signal AC equivalent circuits are segregated, which eventually leads to the derivation of open-loop transfer functions, including internal resistance of the passives. MATLAB-based simulations are performed to validate the average model and the frequency response of transfer functions. Finally, experimental results are reported to authenticate the obtained models.
