A Synchrophasor Estimation Using Tuned FIR Filter for M-Class PMU
The phasor measurement units become essential for efficiently monitoring and controlling the power system network. Dynamic phasor estimation is still an arduous task in the evolution of phasor estimation techniques. This paper presents the performance of M-class phasor measurement using the Kaiser window in compliance with the performance requirements in the IEC/IEEE 60255-118-1. In addition to the phasor estimation, estimate the frequency and rate of frequency change (ROCOF). The Kaiser window uses the steady-state and dynamic-state test conditions described in IEC/IEEE 60255-118-1 and also compares the performance of Hamming and Hanning window functions. The performance evaluation of phasor, frequency, and ROCOF estimation using the total vector error (TVE), frequency error (FE), and ROCOF error (RFE), respectively. The Kaiser window performs satisfactorily in all steady-state and dynamic-state compliant tests, whereas other window functions have fulfilled all requirements. The MATLAB platform demonstrates the phasor, frequency, and ROCOF estimation compliance test.
