Optimizing Electric Vehicle Charging: A Comprehensive User-Centric Approach for Enhanced Satisfaction and Facility Profitability

In this work, a comprehensive approach for optimizing EV charging by enhancing electric vehicle (EV) user satisfaction and charging facility profitability is considered. A utility function that combines the above two objectives is used to define the preferences of electric vehicle (EV) users for EV charging. Firstly, a correlation between waiting times and the satisfaction of customers is obtained. Secondly, payment concerns are integrated into the utility function, offering a thorough assessment of the received value of the charging service. Sequential quadratic programming (SQP) and interior point algorithms (IPM) are then applied to optimize power, price, and satisfaction factors based on this dual-faceted utility function. Among both algorithms, SQP demonstrated superior performance, yielding higher satisfaction factors for individual users and providing more favorable pricing for the charging facility, as observed in tests with real-world datasets.
