Target Signal Jamming Using Forward Shifting Method for Linear Frequency Modulation Radars

A misleading jamming approach involves disrupting radar systems by introducing false information, either in terms of distance or velocity. This paper specifically focuses on jamming at a distance to create deceptive signals. In conventional techniques, a misleading linear frequency modulated (LFM) signal is transmitted using a frequency-shifting technique to create a False Target (FT) that is meant to mislead the enemy radar. Here, a jamming frequency has been used and transmitted along with the original target signal, causing an FT to display on radar displays behind the real target. In spite of the FT's existence, this spatial disparity frequently makes it possible to identify the real target. This research presents a unique method of forward-shifting jamming signals to improve the the effectiveness of misleading jamming. Unlike traditional methods where FTs lag behind the true target, this technique transmits a jamming signal with a frequency mismatch that creates an FT appearing earlier than the original target. By putting the FT in a leading position, this forward-shifting technique seeks to further hide the real target and make it harder for the radar system to recognize it. The effectiveness of this approach is analyzed through comprehensive simulations in MATLAB Simulink, which explore both single and multiple FT scenarios. The results offer a detailed understanding of the potential advantages and limitations of forward-shifting jamming signals in deceptive radar jamming.
