Advanced Dual-Band 27/39 GHz Modified Rectangular Patch Antenna with Inset and Tailored Slots for High-Frequency Ka-Band Applications
This paper introduces a novel microstrip patch antenna specifically developed for use in Ka-band frequencies. A rectangular monopole is utilized in the antenna design, providing resonance at dual bands of 27 GHz and 39 GHz, with return losses of −23.17 dB and −35.65 dB, respectively. The antenna design incorporates interconnected rectangular and triangular slots on the patch, arranged in a configuration resembling a music player. It is constructed on a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate which is 1 millimeter thick, allowing operation within the frequency spectrum spanning 26 GHz to 41 GHz. The HFSS software was employed for designing and simulating the proposed design. The design achieves a good resistance of 50 ohms and a reactance of 1 ohm. Notably, it demonstrates strong diversity performance suitable for applications in 5G devices, mobile networks, wireless technology, and more. The paper analyzes key parameters including the H-plane and E-plane radiation patterns, the VSWR plot, and reflection coefficients.
