Enhancing the reliability of a microgrid by integrating a stable integration of grid power following a failure

Sectionalising switches (SSs) play an essential role in restoring service after a failure, minimising interruption times by isolating the faulty portion of the microgirds (MGs). This paper presents a way to enhance the reliability of a grid-connected MG in the event of failures using SSs. Zero bus load flow (ZBLF) analysis is implemented in the study of a MG that receives a consistent power supply from the primary power grid. The efficacy of the proposed method is examined on a 33 bus MG. Three distributed generations (DGs) are considered based on the sources of solar, wind, and biomass, respectively. The particle swarm optimisation algorithm is used to calculate the power injection of DGs based on solar and wind energy, with the purpose of minimising real power loss and expected energy not supplied. In contrast, ZBLF analysis determines the power injection of biomass DG. Uncertainties regarding branch failure rate and repair time are taken into consideration while determining DGs size. Hong’s 2m + 1 point estimate method is utilised to consider the branch failure rate and repair time uncertainties.
