Algorithm for division of process area in hybrid additive-subtractive manufacturing

Hybrid additive-subtractive manufacturing technology is a secondary development of traditional CNC machine tools, building upon additive manufacturing technology. By integrating the high precision and excellent surface quality of subtractive manufacturing, it compensates for the low accuracy of additive manufacturing processes, offering a novel hybrid processing method. Research on process area division in hybrid additive-subtractive manufacturing provides a foundation for mixed production process planning. However, existing division methods cannot fully eliminate tool interference during subtractive manufacturing. To address this, this paper proposes a reachable area division method based on Gaussian mapping. After processing the three-dimensional workpiece model, the reachable area is calculated using the generated processing data, and the processing area is then divided accordingly.
