Evaluating Lithium-Ion Battery Performance through Mathematical Modeling and Simulation: Charging, Discharging, and Performance Parameter
This work presents the mathematical modeling as well as simulation of a lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery. This paper shows the mathematical model of the Li-ion battery cell to calculate and estimate various parameters critical to the battery's performance. These parameters are essential for conducting Li-ion battery-based simulations. The modeling process allows for the analysis of the battery's internal behavior under different discharge rates, providing insights into its performance. This modeling can determine specific parameters for a particular battery. The simulation also shows the battery's charging and discharging behavior, as well as its effect on the state of charge (SoC) and voltage of the battery cell. This paper also includes a detailed examination of the battery cell charging using constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) charging methods, showcasing the resultant effects on the battery. Furthermore, the paper explores the simulation of pulsating charging and discharging, offering a comprehensive view of the battery's response to varying electrical inputs. This detailed analysis provides valuable information for understanding and optimizing Li-ion battery performance.
