Mitigation of Nonlinearity in Grid Current By D-STATCOM
A grid-connected Distribution Static Synchronous Compensator (D STATCOM) with a control algorithm based on Instantaneous Reactive Power Theory (IRPT) is designed and implemented in this study to address power quality problems when nonlinear loads are present. As increases nonlinearity in power system the grid current become more distorted. Nonlinearity in load effect grid current wave shape and this effect is minimize by using D-STATCOM. This article focus on the mitigation of grid current related power quality isuue and harmonic current regulation is made achievable using the Instantaneous Reactive Power Theory (IRPT) control algorithm. The instantaneous active and reactive power components are computed using the IRPT control algorithm, which makes it possible to precisely generate compensating currents to offset the distortions brought on by nonlinear loads. By ensuring that the grid only provides the essential active power component, this method enhances power quality. Voltage source converters (VSCs) which operate as DSTATCOMs use a proportional-integral (PI) controller that keeps the voltage at the DC-link constant.
