A Wideband Filtering DDPA Based on Embedded Dielectric and Loaded Metal Patch

By loading the metal patches on the bottom of a dense dielectric patch (DDP) and embedding high-dielectric constant dielectric blocks at both ends, this paper designs a novel wideband filtering dense dielectric patch antenna (DDPA). Thanks to the loading of metal patches and embedded dielectric, the TM<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">10</inf>, TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">12</inf>, and TE<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">23</inf> working modes belonging to DDP are effectively excited. The four resonant frequencies corresponding to these resonant modes form the working passband of the antenna. At the same time, the introduction of the metal patch and the transverse branch of the microstrip line generate two radiation nulls. Thus realizing the filtering function. In HFSS, the suggested wideband filtering DDPA is designed and simulated. The simulation results show that the relative impedance bandwidth is 23.15% (4.01-5.06 GHz). The simulation average realized gain is 8.16 dBi. The filtering DDPA has good edge-selectivity and wideband.

Abstract

By loading the metal patches on the bottom of a dense dielectric patch (DDP) and embedding high-dielectric constant dielectric blocks at both ends, this paper designs a novel wideband filtering dense dielectric patch antenna (DDPA).
