Hydropower System with Francis Turbine for Control-Study

Accurate modelling of hydropower systems is essential for optimizing power generation and ensuring grid stability. This research employs OpenModelica, an open-source, equation-based simulation environment, to enhance dynamic modelling of hydropower systems, focusing on the widely used Francis turbine. The study integrates a detailed loss model to the mechanistic model of the Francis turbine. This integration is expected to improve the accuracy of turbine performance predictions and overall model operations. The developed model aims to support the design and optimization of hydropower systems, providing a solid foundation for developing model-based control systems, contributing to improved renewable energy production and operational efficiency.
