Advanced Microstrip Patch Antenna Sensor Design for Salt and SugarDetection in Liquids to Support Health Monitoring
To prevent many health diseases it is very essential that salt and sugar content should be consumed in appropriate amount in the food items. This study presents the design and advancement of a microstrip patch antenna for distinguishing saltiness and sugar levels. The proposed antenna works at 1.33 GHz that is powered by a microstrip line. Simulation and optimization of designed antenna are performed by using the High-Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS). The performance of proposed antenna sensor is tested in solution with different salt and sugar concentrations. The measurement of reflection coefficient of simulated microstrip patch antenna sensor are performed with sugar and salt concentrations in a solution. From the experimental results it is found that the reflection coefficient decreases as the sugar and salt level increases in the solution. The proposed microstrip patch antenna offers a lightweight and cost-effective device for sugar and salt identification in any solution.
